314 Right Honorable, Worshipful, Benevolent Ruler, The undersigned members of the Honorable Political Council, having been commissioned by Your Right Honorable Worship to witness in public, pursuant to the announcement made from the pulpit on the 13th of this month, this afternoon, following the tolling of the bells, in the presence of the Reverend Church Council in the Lord's Church here, the presentation by the Deacons of the Reformed Congregation of this city and Outer Regents of the Leper House at Paliaporto of the proper proof, accounting, and remaining balance of both the receipts and expenditures of the funds placed under their administration for the Diaconate Poor and the Leper House during the period of the first 8 months of the year 1770: we have, in compliance with that honored order, seen this duly done by the said Deacons; and, having compared the closing balance on the last of December 1769 against the opening balance of the first of January in the year 1770, found on both dates a corresponding balance, namely: Of the Diaconate: With the Honorable Company for security, at interest at 5/8 per cent per month: 10000 rixdollars With the Diaconate Cashier A. Huijbert Simon Correjolles, and the opening and closing balance of the statement of account again against the Cashier's account and the Diaconate books, and these again against the aforementioned accounts and each other, precisely compared; and found them also to agree. Accordingly, the aforementioned guardians of the poor have, as far as we can determine, faithfully and properly managed the aforesaid poor funds in those 8 months of the year 1770. The revenues of the same, which were collected by them in the first 8 months of the year 1770, and are detailed in the statement of account thereof, amount together to: For the Diaconate Poor: 386 2/32 rixdollars For the Leper House: 102 1/8 rixdollars Together: 488 13/32 rixdollars. Finally, we have also found, according to the aforementioned Diaconate cash accounts and books, recorded separately inside the column, on the last of December 1769 and the first of January of the year 1770: 140 3/8 rixdollars, being the remaining balance on the said dates of 212 1/8 rixdollars, which in January and July of the year 1768, by special verbal order of the then Honorable Worshipful Commander and Supreme Ruler of this Coast, Cornelis Breekpot, were received by the repeatedly mentioned Diaconate Cashier from the hands of Junior Merchant Hendrik Notermans, in two installments against receipts, for the upbringing of two natural sons of the deceased Provost Johannes Weerom, named Johannes and Claas Weerom; so that those children, for as long as that money shall last, might be raised by Sergeant Jan Christoffel Lodewijk, according to his submitted request; and that a separate account and balance of this should be kept inside the column, as is done. And of which, during the said first 8 months of the year 1770, there was progressively provided to the said Lodewijk for that purpose, at 3 rixdollars per month: 24 rixdollars. So that there still remained of that amount, separately as of the date of the last of August of the year 1770, as balance: 116 3/8 rixdollars.
