Arrears etc. 31 ditto 9 January: Approval of the submitted securities on behalf of the Bimlipatam merchants Wisieppa Chitana Chittij and Baatcheny Enaij, both for their existing debts and for the money to be advanced to them on the current demand. Folio 75 to 76. Assurance that the chief officers would not fail to urge them to reduce the arrears. Folio 76. Discovery to dismay upon the settlement of the Jagannathpuram merchants that the debts of the collective Masulipatnam merchants had increased by f 28,630: 15 during the most recently concluded trading year. Folio 104. No reasons given for this by the chief officers. Folio 104 to 105. Resolution that this amount, or as much of it as shall not have been delivered upon receipt of the dispatched letter, must be deposited into the treasury by the chief officers, or that sufficient guarantors must be provided for it. Folio 105. Desire that this shall be carried out immediately. Folio 104. Recommendation that what these merchants owe otherwise also be settled by the last of August, and a warning in case of the contrary. Folio 105. Considered a good thing that the Jagannathpuram merchants made a cash deposit to the treasury before the last of August of 3000 Pagodas or f 13,500 in reduction of their debts. Folio 105 to 106.
