The 31st of December Anno 1777. mandel with the resort thereof, together with the council at Nagapatnam, entered into and concluded in the name and on behalf of the General Dutch East India Company, with the Company's merchants Tieroemenij Chittij, Ramalinga Poele, Ankin Batawi, Rama Naijker, Moetoe waijtelinga Moddelij, Godowarti Goeroewie Chittij, godowartie goeroemaertie Chittij, Nambour wenketa kistna Chittij, together with Condapille Assuita, and Conda pilli wenkatrama kistna Chittij, namely: The aforementioned merchants shall faithfully attend to the cloth trade of the Honorable Company at this Coromandel main place of the coast; it shall also always be up to the aforementioned His Honour and the council to add to them such other competent merchants as they shall deem necessary for the service of the Honorable Company, who shall also be obliged to sign this contract with the stipulations expressed therein; The aforementioned merchants shall, if necessary, even have to go to the weaving places to direct the weavers to weave good cloths according to the samples, as well as to ascertain whether their servants therein indeed proceed with the required fidelity, vigilance, and diligence in the procurement of cloth, expressly binding themselves not only to remain responsible for any lower qualities that may be found in the cloths than they ought to be, and to pay their value if requested, but to dismiss or otherwise discipline those who shall in one way or another be found negligent in their duty, as well as to elect and appoint in place of such dismissed persons vigilant and capable persons so far as necessary, which shall be maintained and observed in full force and vigor as a principal point to obtain good and sound cloths for the Honorable Company; They merchants promising to supply, deliver in time, and completely fulfill the cloths and linens that are contracted to them on behalf of the Honorable Company in good merchandise conforming to the samples and after the remarks shown to them; undertaking, pursuant to the present, to procure and deliver on the respective Homeland and Indian demands, before the end of the coming month of September, on the last used and newly made samples or patterns, and to be paid for the prices mentioned hereafter with new Pagodas 108 against 100 old ditto, a quantity of 907 packs or each an equal share amounting to Pack: 152 7/6 of diverse cloths and linens, the last five persons making up only two shares, to wit Godowartie Goeroewien Chittij and Godowartie goeroemoertij Chittij, and the mentioned Nambour wenketa kistna Chittij, Condapillij Assuita Chittij, and Condapillij wenketrama kistna Chittij, namely: 917 packs of diverse linens, both for Europe and India, to wit: For Europe: Paid in anno passato.
