The ship De Geregtigheijd departed from here Declaration of the officers sent concerning the loss of the boat Forenoon All present After resumption and approval of the last preceding resolution, it was understood to record that the ship De Geregtigheid left the Souratta roads on the 9th of this month. Whereupon, having been submitted the following declaration sent to the Director by Captain Christiaensz, made under offer of oath on board the vessel under his command: Declaration made aboard the Honorable Company's ship De Geregtigheijd. We, the undersigned officers appointed to the aforesaid vessel, declare at the requisition of the Sea Captain H. C. Christiaansz, and for the sake of the truth, that on the 7th of January 1787, we saw a vessel coming out of the river, which was towing the ship's boat behind it, and with the same came to anchor a full cable's length astern of the ship. Having lain at anchor for about a quarter of an hour, we saw that it drifted away from the stern of the aforesaid vessel. At that time we had no vessel on board with which we could recover it, and could not think it fit to let the aforesaid vessel slip its cable to go after it, because the same, due to the strong ebb, stiff breeze, and high seas, would have drifted far out to sea, and thereby run great danger of falling into the hands of the Marathas roving about here, so that we, short 19.
