The undersigned commissioners have, in compliance with your Right Honorable, Stern, Highly Respected, much honored order, presented themselves to the curator ad lites here in this town, the Provisional Junior Merchant and Pay Bookkeeper Jacobus Adrianus Eversdijck, and have there precisely checked and collated the vendue rolls against the inventory of the estate of Cadet Johannes Adrianus van Namen from Utrecht, who died on the Company's ship De Schelde, which estate was accepted, sold, and liquidated by him as curator ad lites, the proceeds thereof, after deduction of the accrued expenses, having been counted into the Company's treasury, according to the receipt shown to us, properly signed by the cashier for the receipt of those moneys; as follows: The amount of his estate according to the estate account is: rupees 69. 7/20. Tuesday the 11th of May, 1790: Tuesday the 11th of May, 1790: have been contracted, nevertheless the five hundred lasts requested in the latest requisition of the Capital may be fulfilled, as in making that requisition it was set so low because one had hoped to be able to obtain the further requirement from private individuals, and the effect of this contract is not so certain on account of sea disasters, crop failure in Bengal, and other unforeseen accidents, to rely firmly upon it in a matter of such great importance. No. 324. Today the 10th of May 1790: appeared before me, Arnoldus Lunel, Secretary of police here present the witnesses to be named below: The captain of the Portuguese ship Tiodos Navigantes lying in the roads here, Mr. Rodrigo Ioze Lourero, who acknowledged and declared that he binds himself to deliver here at Koetsiem to the Honorable Dutch Company at the end of this current year, namely in the months of October, November, and December, six thousand bags of good new Bengal cargo rice of one hundred fifty Dutch pounds net per bag, and this at five and a quarter rupees the bag for cash payment in gold or silver coins; under this condition that all expenses of unloading and weighing of the rice shall remain at the expense of the Honorable Company and that no duty shall be paid for the same, the appearer further binding himself that if he does not deliver the rice here within the aforesaid time, he shall then pay to the Honorable Company as indemnification six thousand rupees or one rupee for each bag. 52: 58. Tuesday the 18th May, 1790. — Citizen Meijer appointed as ensign of the burghery and member of the Board of Marriages and Petty Courts, and member of the Orphan Chamber. Report on destroyed unusable goods. Augustinus Kersenack, member of the Board of Marriages and Petty Courts, having also passed away, it has been resolved and decided to appoint Citizen Augustus Frederikus Wilhelmus Meijer in his stead as ensign of the burghery and member in the said Board, as well as also as member in the Board of Orphan Masters in place of the aforementioned deceased Russel. After resumption of a report by the Judicial Members Johan Adam Cellarius and Pieter Elstendorp, in whose presence, before the Fiscal, the unusable goods were destroyed during the inventory under the ultimate of August 1789, it has been resolved and decided to deliver the scrap iron, copper and metal resulting therefrom to the overseer of the Smithy, the old sails, the Dutch rope, the ropes and the awning to the Equipment Master, and the grape-shot from the unusable bombs to the Commander of the Artillery for further accountability, and to enter the twenty-two rupees from the sold timber works into the books, as well as to insert said report here.
