Mossel Bay, should happen to perish, half of the aforementioned freight monies may be enjoyed. That the ship shall be provided from the Company's stores in the bay with a heavy anchor and cable, though not to be used in Mossel Bay except in case of necessity, and which anchor and cable, if not used or if lost by accident, must be returned to our commissioners in Mossel Bay. That for every lay day that the ship is detained in Mossel Bay longer than aforesaid, ƒ 80 shall be paid to the skipper. That likewise, in case the premium for the insurance that may be taken out on the said ship for the said voyage to Mossel Bay should be higher than for one of the inland voyages in the Indies, this excess amount shall be reimbursed by the Honourable Company. That furthermore the lay days stipulated by the charter party in the Netherlands shall be reckoned to cease from the day of the departure of the ship from False Bay, and that the said charter party shall resume its course in all respects on the day of full lading in Mossel Bay. And that lastly, the repeatedly mentioned skipper Krijgsman, with respect to what has not been stipulated hereinbefore, as well as regarding the delivery and accounting of the cargo at Batavia, shall be required to conduct himself according to the general conditions expressed in the aforementioned charter party. Having been commissioned to conclude such convention, the undersigned members of this Council, Mr. Jacobus Johannes Lesueur and Oloff Godlieb de Wet, immediately entered into such further charter party on behalf of this government with Captain Krijgsman, substantially containing the prescribed conditions, of which we take the liberty of offering Your Right Honourable an authentic copy enclosed herewith. The Right Honourable and Valiant Lord Cornelis Jacob van de Graaff, Governor of the Cape of Good Hope, having been pleased to commission expressly, following what was resolved in this regard in the Council of Policy on the 7th of August of the past year 1787, in order to taste, in the presence of the skipper Albert Cornelissen commanding the chartered fluyt ship De Vrouw Agatha, such one hundred leaguers of Cape wines of various sorts, namely: 40 leaguers of white Steen wine marked from 1 to 40 at 27 rixdollars 10 leaguers of Muscadel marked from 41 to 50 at ditto 12 leaguers of ordinary traveling white wine marked from 51 to 62 at ditto 20 leaguers of red traveling ditto marked from 63 to 82 at ditto 6 leaguers of Cape Madeira ditto marked from 83 to 88 at ditto 6 leaguers of old matured wine ditto marked from 89 to 94 at 40 rixdollars 2 leaguers of white Muscadel ditto from the Rondeboschje marked from 95 to 96 at 50 rixdollars 4 leaguers of red Steen wine marked from 97 to 100 at 100 rixdollars Which have today been shipped in that vessel for the Fatherland as per invoice; we have accordingly performed this and found those wines to be of good taste, and the leaguers in good condition, the aforesaid casks having been branded with the Company's mark, and from every leaguer, in the presence as aforementioned, a bottle was tapped off, which, sealed with the Company's seal and numbered like the leaguers, was delivered to the same skipper Cornelissen to serve as a sample. 1160 Batavia, where the same cargo shall have to be discharged and delivered. That this voyage for the taking in of the said cargo in Mosselbaaij shall be calculated to last for the period of two months, commencing on the day of departure from the Baaij Fals until the full loading of the ship in Mosselbaaij, in respect of which there shall be paid for each of the Two Hundred and Twenty Lasts, which constitute the size of the ship, eight guilders per Last, together with Ten per Cent ordinary average; for each of the said two months, to be received upon return in Neederland, and the aforementioned two months shall be calculated as having been earned upon departure of the ship from Mosselbaaij. If unexpectedly, and God forbid, the ship should happen to be wrecked on the voyage from Baaij Fals to Mosselbaaij, the aforesaid freight moneys shall be calculated as having been half earned, and may be enjoyed as such. The ship shall, on behalf of the Company, be additionally provided in Baaij Fals with a heavy anchor and rope, in order to make use thereof in Mosselbaaij if necessary, but the said anchor and rope may not be used except in the event that weather and wind should require the dropping of a third anchor; and in case this necessity should not arise, or that, having had to use the anchor and rope as a result, they should not be lost, both anchor and rope must be surrendered to the commissioners there in Mosselbaaij. Should it happen that, contrary to expectation, the ship should be detained in Mosselbaaij for its aforementioned full loading longer than the said two months, there shall be paid to the skipper Eighty guilders for each day that the ship shall have been detained longer. In addition to which it is also expressly conditioned that, if the shipowners or bookkeeper of the ship should find it necessary to have the ship insured for the said voyage to Mosselbaaij, and the insurance premium in such case should turn out to be higher than the insurance premium for one of the inland voyages for which the ship, upon arriving in the Indies, may be employed, that higher amount of the insurance moneys shall then be credited and paid out by the Honorable Company to the aforementioned Shipowners or Bookkeeper upon return in Neederland. The lay days that were conditioned in the Charter Party entered into by the Honorable Company with the Shipowners of this ship on 16 and 18 July 1787 before the Notary Pieter Galenus van Hole and witnesses in Amsterdam, shall be calculated to cease from the day of the ship's departure from Baaij Fals, and the same Charter Party shall in all respects resume its course on the day that the ship shall be fully laden in Mosselbaaij. The abovementioned skipper Krijgsman, with respect to that which is not specially conditioned herein, and also regarding the delivery of and accounting for the cargo at Batavia, shall be obliged to conduct himself according to the General Conditions expressed in the aforementioned Charter Party.
