Upon the transfer of the Dispensary to the present Dispenser, the Junior Merchant Pieter Willem Geeke, some differences arose between him and the widow of the deceased Dispenser Appeng, concerning the receipt of goods that still had to be accounted for by her to the Company. The widow addressed the government; Order given to the Dispenser Geeke, and upon what basis. To take over the remainder of 3775 parras paddy, and 4004 7/8 parras rice, item 176 parras salt. Regarding this, the aforesaid widow addressed us by petition on the 5th of October last, whereupon, on the basis of our resolution of the 22nd of December 1770, in which it was decreed that upon a change of office one administrator shall have to take over from the other as much of the balances of goods ordinarily purchased as is required for the provision of one year, we ordered the Dispenser Geeke to receive in kind from the widow Appeng 3775 parras paddy, 4004 7/8 parras rice, and 176 parras salt, which she still had to account for according to the transfer, as not exceeding the provisions for a full year, provided that the aforesaid widow, also pursuant to the said statutory order, delivered to the Dispenser Geeke the usual percentages that are granted to the Dispenser for leakage under the regulations for writing in and writing off. Item 2400 measures of lamp oil with 10 percent for leakage; Order to the widow Appeng to satisfy all the rest in cash; However, because the balance of lamp oil that still had to be delivered by the said widow far exceeded the provisions for a full year, of which four months had already elapsed since her husband's death, we merely instructed the Dispenser Geeke in that regard to accept from the widow Appeng, in deduction of that balance, 2400 measures of that grease with an addition of 10 percent for leakage in eight months, and further ordered her to satisfy the remaining balance of lamp oil, which then still amounted to 2580 9/20 measures, in cash into the Company's treasury. In which decision we hope that Your Right Excellencies will be pleased to acquiesce, although we have allowed the Dispenser 10 percent leakage on the oil, because we can assure Your Right Excellencies that he will hardly manage with that to make good his leakage over eight months on the oil that, for lack of martavans, he had to store in leagers.
