This, and the further hardships which such an invasion by a considerable army—estimated at 300000 men, both cavalry and infantry—must cause to the inhabitants of this country, and principally to those who reside in the weaving villages, bodes nothing good with which we might hope for a more advantageous procurement for the year 1781. Nevertheless, we can assure Your Right Honorables that our efforts toward obtaining a good procurement of sound linens will not slacken, but will increase more and more. Having had the high honor of receiving Your Right Honorables' petition, drafted alongside this, on 8 October 1780, the necessary extracts for the subordinate factories were drawn from it according to annual custom.
