That subsequently Hendrik Plooy packed the goods into bags brought by him and thus loaded them onto his horses, and rode home, while he, the appearer, with the others only returned to the farm of the old Regina the following morning. That after the goods were brought into the house, the same goods were buried beside the house in a ravine, having assisted at the burial Hendrik Plooy, he the witness Thys Albregt the Younger, Claas Coert and Piet Pikeur. Appeared before us, the undersigned commissioners from the Honorable Court of Justice of this government, the Hottentot Piet Pikeur, who gave such answers to the adjacent question articles as are recorded beside each of them. Article 1 The prisoner's name, birthplace, and age. Answers: Says he is a Hottentot named Piet Pikeur, aged, by estimation, 40 years. Article 2 Where he last resided. Answers: Says with Regina of the Cape, widow of Hendrik de Plooy, living on the other side of the Gourits River near the so-called Rietvallei. Article 3 Whether the witness also lived in the month of October last on the farm of the widow De Plooy situated in the Outeniqualand. Answers: Says yes. Article 4 Whether at that time there were also foreign slaves and Hottentots, and what the prisoner knows about this; if so, how many, what names, and to whom they belong, to state this distinctly. Articles drawn up and submitted to the Gentlemen Commissioners from the Honorable Worshipful Council of Justice of this Government, by and on behalf of the Landdrost of Swellendam, Constant van Nult Onkruijt, in order that the Bastard Hottentot Thijs Albregt the younger be heard and interrogated upon them at his requisition, the answers to be given by him having to be duly recorded in the margin hereof. Article 1. The prisoner's name, birthplace, and age. Says Thijs Albregt, legitimate son of the burgher Thijs Albregt, aged 15 years. Article 2. Where he last resided. Says with his father on the farm of the widow Hendrik de Plooy on the other side of the Gourits River, the so-called Rietvalley. Article 3. Who the grandmother of him, the prisoner, is. Says Regina of the Cape, widow of the late Hendrik de Plooy, is his, the prisoner's, grandmother. Article 4. Article 1. What is the prisoner's name, birthplace, and age? States Martha Maria van Nimwegen, born in this corner of the country, aged about 25 years. Article 2. Who her husband is and where she has lived? States Hendrik Willem Plooy to be her husband, and to have lived at the Riet Valley situated beyond the Gourits River. Article 3. Whether she, witness, also knew the six butchers' boys who were with her, witness's, mother-in-law in the month of October last under the name of the butcher J: A: van der Poel? Says no, not to have seen the boys.
