In the manner as my father Hadje Mahmedhassum has written, I, the lowest among all, also have knowledge thereof, sealed by Aga Ressjed, merchant in fabrics and son of Hadje Hossum, broker of linens. The nature of the matter is as stated in the attestation and has been declared by Hadje Mahmedhassum, and of which I, the lowest among the creatures of God, Mahmed Bahadien, also have knowledge, sealed by Aga Bahadien, overseer of the lands of Aga Camaal, supreme circumciser of the King. That which was raised in the declaration consists of the pure truth, and nothing is contrary thereto, was sealed by Aga Reza, renowned surgeon. But on the other hand, I humbly thank Your Honour both for the premium given to the aforementioned courier amounting to 50 Man heavy city money, and for the 175 Mamd: heavy of the said currency approved by Your Honour and refunded to my proxy, with a heartfelt declaration that in the future the disbursement of such funds and the delivery of the runners' monthly wages, as well as the dispatching thereof, shall be observed with all respect according to the ancient Company customs and Your Honour's esteemed orders. Passing now to the news, I shall then—if you will honorably permit me to say so—relate that the monarch of this realm has reportedly moved from Allalabaad to Peshawar, and has been in an attack against the latterly mentioned nation, as well as that the Persians remained victorious, massacred many, and took their leader, named Naser Chan, alive as a prisoner. It is also believed here that the king's brother Ibrahim Chan and the beglerbegi From Persia under date 14 May Anno 1739 of Taurries had marched to war with a great army to Dagestan against the Lesghis, but that the latter achieved victory and reportedly struck down Ibrahim Chan along with many of his soldiers. The day before yesterday a Sappaar arrived here with the news that some troops of the Uzbeks had marched towards Herat and Mashhad to attack the two above-mentioned places, but as soon as the King's son, named Resa Coelie Miersa, became aware of this, he marched thither with a multitude of soldiers, confronted him, and had the fortune to hold the upper hand over the Uzbeks, so much so that by him many of the said nation were killed and driven off, and everything was plundered.
