Your Excellency's sent letter for His Highness Mohammad Taqi Khan was handed over by me in a pleasant hour, whereupon I immediately, in accordance with Your Excellency's request made therewith, received the reply in order to let the same reach Your Excellency, which has already been dispatched beforehand by courier; Furthermore, whenever Your Excellency has something to request or propose, please write it freely and frankly, and I shall not fail to carry out the same and bring it to effect according to the utmost possibility; Further, the conclusion with compliments. After preceding compliments and titles of honor: May God be Your Excellency's hope and true guarantor, and Your Excellency may be assured of my true friendship. The letter that Your Excellency sent by the courier Mohammad Reza was safely delivered to me on Sunday, the 8th of the month of Dhu al-Qadah al-Haram in the year 1152 in Gwadar. I have observed with pleasure therefrom Your Excellency's purity and courtesies; Regarding Your Excellency's request concerning the granting of leave for the departure of the ship, I shall within a few days, under God's blessing, dispatch it to Khasab for Your Excellency's service. The fact that the ship was not yet unloaded of its contained grains is the reason that it was not sent to Your Excellency sooner. I am fully convinced regarding Your Excellency's rendered services, and even more so according to Your Excellency's writing concerning the vessel lent to Aqa Baqir for taking in butter and rice. Your Excellency can be assured of my true friendship at all times, and I wish that Your Excellency's countenance may be as clear as the sun shines; Furthermore, regarding the mare about which Your Excellency informed me, I have, according to Your Excellency's pleasure and pursuant to the granted written order, once again recommended it to Aqa Baqir. Previously I communicated to Your Excellency that which occurred between my army and that of my enemies called the Bloetjes, not doubting that Your Excellency will have read the same before the arrival of this letter. And after I had sent the artillery to Kis-makroen, I also dispatched Zulverkar Chan, Beglerbegi of Coeglion, thither in order to make an end of that castle as quickly as possible. However, because those affairs dragged on too long for me, I mounted on horseback in person with some cavalry, whereupon I remained encamped two days' travel distant from their castle, and first had an order From Persia, dated 31 July 1740. sent to the rebel named Dienaar, with an admonition to submission and obedience. Furthermore, the order having been received by him, he immediately submitted himself to my obedience, together with another of his brothers and councillors, all with their cutlasses hung around their necks, whereupon, through my great goodness, I pardoned him and, instead of rigor, favored him with a robe. From Persia under date 31 July 1740. The Armenian into French and subsequently collected together into Dutch by signed A. van Nes underneath stood agreed signed E. de Poorter, G. E. Clercq. Translation of an Armenian missive written by the wool factor residing at Kirman, in name Godja Awannees, on date 22 January 1740, and brought here on 3 February following by a chappar of the Kirman beglerbegi named Mhamed Beeck. I have had the honor to write to Your Honors three different times, namely once via the jelawdar Hassis, once via the English wool merchant Mr. Sawiets, and finally via the chappar Alie Chan Beecq, which I hope will have arrived at Your Honors long before the arrival of this letter. Regarding the wool trade, I have the honor to communicate to Your Honors that up to this date I have purchased 895 man of uncleaned red wool, which quantity amounts to a sum of 93 namoedus and 6 peijs in copper money, the man being 6 lb and 1/2 mahmudis scarce, which has been cleaned by me and made into 26 cargas, of which 17 ditto have been dispatched to Your Honors via the jelawdar Hassis. Consequently, 9 ditto remain, being 1670 lb, which would also have been dispatched like the aforementioned 17 cargas if a jelawdar could have been obtained, but I will effect this at the first opportunity. Concerning the contract entered into with Mr. Sawieds, I have the honor to report to Your Honors that we bought four assortments together, from which the red fleece was separated and divided by us, of which each man amounts to 10 and 1/2 mahmudis in black money. It was also agreed by me that, owing to the scarcity of the red fleece, it being the best assortment, I would give him copper peysen above the said 10 and 1/2 mahmudis. However, when the aforementioned Mr. Sawieds was about to depart for Gamron and I came to him to settle our account, he would not accept the same out of the friendship that is cultivated between our two Companies, and therefore it will not be entered into my books. Nevertheless, I could not omit to give Your Honors the necessary notice thereof, as well as that this year I have not been able to obtain more than 4680 lb, whatever efforts I have made to fulfill the required 6000 lb. Likewise, although he bought up all four assortments, the aforementioned Mr. Sawieds was not able to acquire more than 1300 man, so that Your Honors, if you please, will be able to see that there has been no fault on my part; for a strict order has also arrived here from the Wali Mhamed to buy up shawls, woolen caps, etc., which must also be attributed to the aforementioned scarcity. However, if in the meantime, or until the departure of the aforementioned 9 cargas, more of the aforementioned red fleece can be obtained, I shall send the same in one mass together with the account for that fleece. The three horses belonging to the deceased Doctor Heezelman which arrived here, of which one has died, will be dispatched tomorrow towards Gamron with the effects of the aforementioned deceased, since they have somewhat recovered from their ailments. The courier Sahid has also arrived here again with a letter written by Your Honors to the late Mr. Heezelman, which will likewise be delivered with the servant of the aforementioned deceased. The agreed wages of the said courier to Majet were 80 man in silver, which was paid by me upon his return. Furthermore, the kalantar Khadja Mhier Boeroen arrived here on 30 December, to whom I delivered Your Honors' letter in the same manner as I did to the aforementioned Khan. The aforementioned Khan and kalantar also summoned the English agent and me, and related that Nader Shah had given them orders to purchase broadcloth and shawls for cambaye, but since that fabric cannot be obtained locally, they said that they intended to send a chappar towards Gamron to request some pieces of that fabric from Your Honors, and that I might therefore accompany them with a short letter of supplication, which I now have the honor to effect. Regarding the news, I must inform Your Honors with all respect that on 5 January a chappar arrived here at the beglerbegi's from Kabul from Nader Shah, with orders to collect all the fleece in this wool harvest and to have 30000 woolen caps made from it, and the said chappar has accordingly distributed the necessary money for that purpose among the people. Consequently, I presume that little or no wool will be obtainable this year. A certain Hadje Alie Mirdoem Chan also arrived here on 19 January, who has been appointed beglerbegi of Kuhgiluyeh by His Majesty. Subsequently, the said Khan also related that when His Majesty arrived in Kabul, he immediately sent his heavy artillery and other ammunition of war through or to Karad, with the intention of marching with his troops to Sind and attacking Mia Nasier. However, because one of the said mounts was very lame and therefore not able to carry a load, I had the remainder given to a jouloudhaar, who handed over a bill of lading for it to the said Hadje Mhamed. I request that upon the delivery of the said goods (and having handed over the bill of lading) he may receive his freight wages. Likewise, I request that the same may be done with 125 Mamoodies in silver that the said servants, on their march from Masjet to Kirman, received from the Goerassoeniers for provisions for themselves and their horses, which monies were reimbursed by me to the said Goerassoeniers (upon the passing of a receipt by the aforementioned servants), as well as with the identical 55 Mamoodies that were handed over to them at their departure. Furthermore, it was very pleasing to me to learn that the 17 cargas of red fleece had already been brought there, and for which communication I hereby offer my gratitude. That the Sea Admiral Meer Alie Chan has likewise been dismissed from his admiralty, and has been succeeded in his place by a certain Mamettackie Chan, called Masidie, who some years past was beglerbegi of Kirman, and subsequently general of the holy place of Imam Reza at Mashhad. Fourthly, And Sjanazer Chan appointed as governor of Lar, who was formerly His Majesty's shah-tavashi (chief weigher). Atambeecq, former Isfahan deputy governor, taken as governor of Shiraz. Subsequently, Jman Werdie Chan shall, just as Mamettackie Chan formerly governed, have the power and authority over the beglerbegis and governors, and also be the head of the army.
