make known herewith in particular how true and truthful it is that since our departure from Gamron for Bendzer Abouchier we have continuously, and so to speak always, been afflicted with much adversity, heavy seas, and currents, besides strong winds from the North West, indeed such that due to the said seas, currents, and winds, as well as the heavy laboring of our vessel, on the 15th of July of the current year the boat was swamped with water, whereupon we made our utmost effort by turning and maneuvering to empty the said boat, but all trouble was in vain because the said boat got under the stern of the shallop and one was then perforce compelled to cut the rope in pieces and let her drift, since otherwise that vessel would sometimes have been exposed to greater danger, for besides this, through steady From Persia under date of the last of December 1741 laboring, she had become so considerably leaky that one had work enough to keep the said vessel afloat with two pumps, and also continuously until our arrival at Boucher, and presently still, to use them every half-hour glass; furthermore, to our great distress, on the 19th of the said month the bolts of the rudder-head were shattered and fell out, and then the head of the same began to split apart, so that one was then, for the preservation of the Honorable Company's precious vessel, compelled to have the said rudder fitted with two braces from a house-beam and iron clamps until such time as one, through God's goodness, might arrive and appear at the destined place, and thereby to request the proper repair, since one found that vessel in such a lamentable condition and not in a state to be able to put to sea again without proper repair without exposing her to the utmost danger.
