Then, since we have been unable here to obtain the projected 400 pieces corgies of Javanese cloths, we have, upon the arrival of Your Right Honourables' most revered order, authorized the officials in the Eastern Salient to purchase the full number, so that we do not doubt that the remaining 339 corgies will indeed be fulfilled for Banda and distributed equally across each ship, of which, having not yet received advice, we cannot as yet report the cost, no more than regarding the ordered dongrijs which could not be obtained here, and therefore the packing had to be done with gunny and straw mats; likewise we pray Your Right Honourables to be pleased to accept our adopted resolution, made upon a request of Major De Clercq, who is currently stationed in the Kadu and specifically at Pamalang to make up for having had 25 dead in his army, to retain half of the projected military personnel for Banda and make them march thither to reinforce the said major. From Java's East Coast the 10 February 1751. tura to the amount of f.136:12. as well as such unusable goods as were found here in the warehouses at the end of August last, detailed in an enclosed note. Furthermore, there has been furnished to that vessel, both for the surgeon and for the crew, such linens and refreshments as the enclosed expense account shows, to the amount of f.54:19:8. However, because very many sick people were found on that vessel, nine of them were brought to this hospital, who served as a reduction instead of the twenty young sailors that the sea captain Brahe was required to deliver here; this ship took in a dunnage of mill planks at Japara and departs therewith, according to Your High Excellencies' high orders, for Grissee to load rice and further products of the country. The ship 's Heeren Arendskerke as well as the ship Rijnhuijsen have also arrived and are lying at Japara to take in their dunnages; but because the skipper of From Java's East Coast the 10 February Anno 1751. the latter vessel, Pieter Jansz, declared here that his ship was impossible in a state to be able to load any products, indeed even timber, and go to sea therewith, the Lord Governor and Director of this Coast ordered a commission on that account, consisting of two members of this council, two competent yet impartial seamen, together with two experienced shipwrights, to inspect the condition of that vessel most thoroughly, about which the Lord Governor and Director, upon his return from the upper lands, which will occur within a few days, will further inform Your High Excellencies, his Honour having also been pleased to take it upon himself to respectfully deal then with the further points of Your High Excellencies' most venerated missive of the 9 January last. From Java's East Coast the 8th of February Anno 1732 has required of us the demanded short-strength of all coastal offices in order to supply them with the inland force, and left it to us to send to Your High Noble Lordships the list of granted passes from and to Bantam, which we then annex in submissive respect, as well as the justification of the resident Pijll concerning the misconduct of the Tuban regent and Resident Coertsz regarding the condition of the chaloup sent over per the small ship Admirael Tromp to the main station, along with also a respectful supplication of Ensign Maiter tending towards a request to be allowed to be discharged to the Netherlands. We have accordingly, and upon the report received from the commissioners appointed for the inspection of the ship Rijnhuijsen—which is respectfully annexed hereto—ordered the Resident of Japara to have the required minor repairs made to that vessel, with instructions to load that vessel then with light timber upon the advice of the skipper Pieter Iansz, who declared here that he could draw down to 18 feet deep, and to have it undertake its return voyage to the main station with manageable weather. The ship 's Heeren Arendskerke, which required some repairs aloft for the loading of rice, was likewise provided for and sent to Grissee to take in that grain. Just as the ship 't Huijs te Spijk, having arrived here in the roadstead and having duly delivered here its two parcels containing sea gulls that it held, for which favourable provision we express our most submissive thanks to Your Right Honours, was sent on to Japara to take in timber From Java's East Coast, the 19th of February Anno 1751. timber and country produce; which vessel also duly delivered the cash, ammunition, medicines, and other goods favourably provided by Your Right Honours to Tagal, as appeared to us from the invoice of account, and there enjoyed such refreshments as the enclosed expense account serves to show, of which amount we petition Your Right Honours to be permitted to write off. Furthermore, we find ourselves obliged to inform Your Right Honours with regret that, as appears from the enclosed notes from Japara and Joana, the ship Kleeverskerk, Captain Thoen, destined for Macassar, has been lost between those two Residencies, namely at the island of Crimon Java.
