Having further reviewed a Memorandum of expenses incurred by the cashier at Cassimbazar Daniel Overbeek, during the transshipment at Tellinge of 3000 bags of saltpetre and some other goods recently brought down from Patna, amounting to Sicca Rupees 4139:5 5/8 or 6519:10 guilders, it was agreed to pass the same, said Memorandum reading as follows. Incorporation of the Memorandum Note regarding the signing of the Terms and Bonds. Furthermore, it was agreed to note that the bonds for the merchants who have undertaken part of the delivery on credit, being Mirza Abulkassim and Gourie Mitter alongside Rasbeherrie, for the Olmara goods, as well as the contracting terms, were signed in this meeting; on which occasion the Director communicated that his Honour, judging that the provisional payment of the estimated price, ordinarily paid when a significant batch of cloths has been delivered by the merchants who deliver on credit, was too high, and that the Company would be exposed to loss in that regard upon the delivery of much inferior goods, had agreed with the merchants in this respect that said provisional payment should be set 25 percent below the estimated price, which his Honour had made known in the conditions; which, after the Members declared to conform therewith, it was agreed to note here. We, the undersigned, being expressly commissioned by the merchant and Chief, the Honorable Moize Lafont, to open and inspect the cloves, nutmegs, and cinnamon brought here among several other goods by Ensign Singelman on the last of January, declare to have found the same as demonstrated below, namely: According to the memorandum there are known: 800 lb of nutmegs, found 793½ lb, thus 6½ lb short, 800 lb as balance. 2800 lb of cloves, weighed out from that 2782½ lb, thus 17½ lb short, 2800 lb as balance. 505½ lb of cinnamon, found 501¾ lb, thus 3¾ lb short, 505½ lb as balance. At the pricing held today, no changes having been made in the prices of the linens, it is only resolved, in view of the received news that all of Siam has been conquered by the Burmese, not to supply the required cloths for the Company's office in that kingdom, and to send them, insofar as they can serve that purpose, to the other offices for which the same assortments have been requisitioned. Furthermore, it is resolved to grant the request of the skipper Arent van der Deure to obtain necessities and provisions for his upcoming voyage to Batavia with the ship Yzelmonde, the necessity being attested by the Equippage Master and the conformity with the Regulations on the matter of provisions by the Purser through their signatures, according to the accompanying petition below.
