Parwanna granted from Pettapour on the 25th of November by Lord Hagie Houssen to the head Brahmin over Kakienare and Sellipaka, named Nandour Kamarasoe: This serves so that it may be known that the Authorized Agent of the Honorable Venerable Lord Elias Guillot, Governor of Coromandel, Thomas Dirksz Vrijmoet, has made known to me that the said Honorable Company is inclined to establish a new trading post at the hamlet of Iaggernaijkpalem, resorting under Kakinara, in order to conduct their trade in whatever it may be, and to the aforementioned end has requested the necessary Cowle, which then also according to their desire has not been refused, but positively granted, so that you may point out, fully surrender, and cede the ground of the abovementioned Jaggernaijkpalem to the aforementioned Company or its Authorized Agents, so that they may erect their necessary buildings into a lodge surrounded by a square perimeter wall according to their pleasure, and also dwellings where their Honorable merchants and further required servants must take up residence, without causing them the least hindrance, but on the contrary to provide all help and assistance regarding their services in accordance with the content of the granted Cowle dated as of today, and to let them take their course; you shall regard this order as a strict command and follow it promptly. This shows more clearly than the previous one the surrendered full ownership of Iaggernaijkpoeram. Cowle granted by the Prince, Ekogie Maharaasja, to Elias Guillot, Governor on behalf of the Dutch Company at Nagapatnam. Below stood: this I have written verbatim following the oral order of the Prince, along with below it 1 small seal of the aforementioned Pesuwaij, lower the handwritten signatures of: Palaganawies or Abje Gowinda Pandidaar, Kaaskeelsoedoe or Gowinda Naijker, Goesoe rnawies or the secretary Naropandidaar, and soegoerwies or Malhaar Rauw; still lower: the 10th of the month Tilhesoe according to our reckoning of time the 27th February; still lower signed again as above. Takiet Parwanna on behalf of the Prince of Tansjour. By order of Rajasri Pretappa Singaji Raja Maharaja Sahib, this Takiet Parwanna is directed to the toll collectors in the lands of His Highness the Prince of Tansjour by the mighty and supreme manager Hasaratsoe Rajasri Annaji Rauw Chetke. Whereas it has always been the custom to take only half toll from the cloths and linens brought from all quarters of the Prince's territory for the Dutch Company to Nagapatnam; so are you Caul granted by Maharasja Rajasri Pretappa Singasr Raji Sahib to Iacob Mossel, Governor of Nagapatnam on behalf of the best Company of the Dutch. To the confirmation of the Cauls granted in former times by the Princes now being in glory, the present is granted to be preserved, and to rest assured thereon. The paddy and other edible wares being brought from all sides to the market in the town of Nagapatnam must in no way be detained. At Chikel no other boutiques must be newly erected beyond those already built. By virtue of the aforementioned order, all this must proceed properly, without causing the Honourable Company the slightest molestation, and the recalcitrant shall in the contrary case incur the punishment of the Prince. Copies hereof must be taken, and the original handed back to the Honourable Company. May 1741. All estrangements and enmities that have occurred in the waged war shall from this day forth be forgotten on both sides, and turn into an everlasting, firm, and inviolable alliance and friendship. 259 203 To the Owners of the 10 seized vessels, the Honourable Company shall return the same, namely: to Karoeta Awoekapoele two, Moetoe Chittij, Mirana Mahamadoe Lebe, Lebe Tambij, Marie Moetoe Poele, Naijniappa Chittij, Mapoel Marcair and Sawateij Saidoe one each, as well as half of the Areca as recorded on the Passports, the Barquiers shall take on their own Account the Areca delivered by the Honourable Company, both to the Ceylonese Dissave and the Colombo interpreter, as well as all the freight oils, without having any claim on the Honourable Company. The Honourable Company shall also, on this Condition, refund to Moeniappa Chittij the Money for which his Phaar was sold, together with half of the Areca according to the Passport. The damage suffered in the War shall be forgotten on both sides, without ever making a claim on that account: all the rest the Honourable Company shall take. Since it has always been the custom to collect only half toll for the cloths and linens brought from all parts of the Prince's territory for the Dutch Company to Nagapatnam: you are therefore ordered to comply with this without fail in the future as well, also taking care that the subordinate toll-gatherers to the south and north are instructed by you to observe the same likewise.
